Edinburgh Eagles forward Aaron Robertson joins the Edinburgh's professional ice hockey side, the Edinburgh Capitals, as part of their academy set-up for the 2017-18 season.

Aaron Robertson, an economics and accountancy student at the University of Edinburgh, is one of the country's hottest prospects. He has represented Scotland at the U-19 level, a GB U-18 reserve, and is currently the all-time leading points scorer in the Scotland U-20s age group - having scored 137 points in 47 games.

Robertson will be playing under new Capitals coach and former NHL All-Star, Dmitri Khristich.

Aaron on his signing with the Capitals:

“I am excited and extremely privileged to be given the opportunity to improve my game within the Edinburgh Capitals Academy. The prospect of learning under a coach who has played at the highest level of the sport is an honour. I cannot wait for the season to start”.

In his first year as an Edinburgh Eagle, Aaron was a standout player. Despite limited appearances, he scored 5 points in 2 games over the BUIHA Cup competition and scored a highlight reel goal against the St Andrews Typhoons in the annual Jonny Wookey Memorial varsity game. During the BUIHA National Championships he scored 12 points in 5 games, tying for 1st place in points, and received All-Star honours.

Edinburgh Eagles' head coach, Matt Dible, had this to say on Robertson's pro signing:

"Aaron is a quality young player, who was key contributor in every game he played for the Eagles. Despite his numerous commitments in SNL and Juniors, Aaron was still keen to ice for the Eagles when he could - a testament to his dedication to the sport. Everyone at the club is thrilled that Aaron has this opportunity with the Capitals and I am personally looking forward to see how he develops in the season ahead."

Aaron will be entering the Edinburgh Capitals academy with his younger brother, Caly Robertson, who will be studying at Edinburgh College next year.
